Third time's a charm!

Planned a January wedding and nowhere to do it now your venue’s closed? You’re not alone – here’s bride-to-be Abbi’s story…

Third time's a charm!

“Matthew and I spent years planning our October 2020 wedding at Meldrum House, so we were very excited when the year finally arrived!

“But excitement quickly turned to months of stress and uncertainty, and we eventually decided to postpone our dream wedding. Luckily our venue was very understanding and changing to an intimate wedding in January 2021 felt like a weight being lifted from our shoulders.

“We felt we’d made the best decision – and then our venue was forced to close due to lockdown. However, we were much more relaxed about postponing the second time round and knew we’d keep trying until we could celebrate with our nearest and dearest.

“We’re now ready to go with our new provisional date – hoping it’s third time lucky! But do actually have another back-up date just in case. Matthew actually compared the date switching situation to football transfer day – very stressful until all the suppliers and venue dates align, and then it’s a relief.

“It’s taken everything that’s happened for us to realise all we need is our closest family around us. Waiting until we can invite 20 people again is the most important thing. It would have been heart breaking getting married without our daughter and parents.

“We’ve accepted that planning a wedding during a global pandemic is a big risk. Now we just really want to be married and are excited to make special memories with our families.”
