Typically seen performing at weddings, singer Paul Black found himself on the other side this time when he and Libby Bremner tied the knot at the Seafield Arms Hotel in a relaxed, coastal-inspired celebration, reflecting their love of the beach and each o
’We met online and after getting to know each other, it just felt right. In December 2023 Paul proposed at the Seafield Arms, a place that already held a special place in our hearts. It was a beautiful and meaningful moment that we’ll never forget.
We didn’t waste time when it came to planning. We knew we wanted a summer wedding and we got right to it! Our top priority was securing the venue. We were already in love with the Seafield Arms and Cullen, with its beach and sea views, felt like the perfect setting.
The organisation was all done by us – no planner needed. We wanted the day to be laid-back and personal, with the decor reflecting our love for the coast. We went for neutral colours and natural elements, like washed wood and rope, to bring in that ocean vibe. It was simple yet perfect for us.
Finding the dress was a breeze. The team at Avorio Bridal made everything so easy and, believe it or not, the first dress was the dress. It was unique and didn’t need any alterations or customisations – perfect as it was. As for the bridesmaids (our two daughters) they rocked blush pink jumpsuits from Next, teamed with white Vans. They played a special part in the ceremony then our youngest, Rudi, give a heartfelt speech before the meal.
Paul knew what he wanted to wear and his muted tartan kilt from Mitchell Scott fit the bill
perfectly. The greens and browns tied in with our ocean theme, blending seamlessly with the natural, coastal tones of the day.
The night before we stayed at the Seafield Arms with friends and family, enjoying a lovely meal at the restaurant. Wedding mornings can be chaotic but ours was surprisingly chill. Hair by Rae and Samantha Cardno Makeup made sure I was looking my best while Sidewinder Jazz, an Aberdeen band, set the mood for the day.
We had a humanist ceremony, which felt personal and intimate – exactly what we wanted. Afterwards, we celebrated with Champagne and canapés, enjoying the smooth jazz in the background. The food at the Seafield Arms was absolutely incredible and while we didn’t have a traditional bridal party or formal speeches, Paul did take a moment to thank our guests, which felt just right.
Our first dance was to Sam Ryder’s More, a song that holds deep meaning for us. It’s about wanting more time with someone, and we often say we wish we’d met sooner so we could have had more of life together.
Looking back, it’s tough to pick just one highlight because there were so many. Being surrounded by the people we love and sharing the day with them was truly special. Our advice to anyone planning their wedding? Don’t stress. It’s just one day. Enjoy the process and on the day itself take time together because it goes by in a flash.’
