Our Love Story

From a wildflower dream to a kilted pup stealing the show, Aurora and Ross’s big day at Logie Country House was the perfect blend of love and laughter with a touch of tartan magic. The bride explains how they turned their wedding into the ultimate celeb

When we met in a club in Aberdeen back in 2017 neither of us could have predicted we’d be planning a wedding at the stunning Logie Country House just a few years later. But here we are, reminiscing about a day that couldn’t have been more perfect – or more us.

Ross popped the question in our first home together. He totally surprised me with a beautiful ring from Finnies the Jeweller, inspired by his mum’s one.

We both knew right away that Logie was the venue for us. Grand yet cosy, it just felt right. The planning took just under two years, thanks to the post-pandemic backlog, but it was worth every second. We did it ourselves with some expert guidance from Gillian at Logie, making sure every detail was perfect.

We envisioned an intimate, relaxed party where everyone could let loose and enjoy themselves. We wanted it to feel like the start of summer, bursting with wildflowers and vibrant colours. The venue décor was already stunning – we simply added our own themed touches with help of our florists, Sam and Sarah.

Finding the right dress was a bit overwhelming at first. I’m not the kind of person who’s dreamed of a wedding gown since childhood. But at Ivory Grace, Emma made the experience easy, helping me find a dress that was simple, classy and totally me. My accessories were sentimental and special, and included my mum’s pearl earrings and some gorgeous finds from Etsy.

My bridesmaids looked stunning in olive/sage green dresses, each picking a style they felt comfortable in. Ross had his outfit sorted from the start; his own Cochrane tartan. But let’s be honest, our dog Scooby in his very own kilt stole the show outfit-wise!

The night before the wedding, we had a barbecue at Logie with our closest friends and family. The next morning was all about music, laughter and keeping things relaxed. We knew the ceremony would be nerve-wracking but our celebrant, Kirstin Cruickshank, created a beautiful atmosphere that felt like we were just surrounded by love. My twin brothers’ reading had us all in tears and was the perfect way to end the ceremony.

We snuck away with our photographer, Danielle, for a quick breather and some practice for our dip kiss photos. Meanwhile, our guests were serenaded by Mike Macdermid as they enjoyed Champagne and canapés. And because no wedding is complete without a bit of fun, Ross and one of the groomsmen grabbed the mic for some impromptu entertainment!

The meal was unforgettable, and the speeches were heartfelt and hilarious. Let’s just say the best man didn’t hold back… Ross got roasted! Our first dance to Unwritten by Natasha Bedingfield was a blast, setting
the tone for a busy night ahead on the
dance floor.

Looking back, the whole day feels like a dream. We’re so lucky to have had such incredible suppliers and to have been surrounded by amazing people. We’ll remember the joy and love that filled the room forever.

Our advice to anyone planning a wedding? Make sure your suppliers are on the same wavelength as you because they’re a big part of your day. And don’t sweat the small stuff. The day is about celebrating your love, so soak it all in and enjoy every moment.
