Just go for it!

Trying to decide whether to put your big day off 'til normal (hopefully) returns or go for it with an intimate micro-wedding? Then this real-wedding story by our stunning autumn bride Trina is worth a read!

Just go for it!

"Our original plan was to have a large wedding and ceilidh at Ballogie House. But, unfortunately, due to COVID-19 rules around the ceremony, reception and overnight accommodation, we couldn’t find a way to make it work.

So, Neil and I got married on our original wedding date at the start of October with an intimate ceremony and reception at Ardoe House Hotel. We obviously had to adhere to government guidelines, which meant we had just 17 of our closest friends and family there with us.

Ardoe was fantastic. The service, food and accommodation were exceptional and, despite the short notice, everything went smoothly. All the other suppliers made our day so special, too, and we appreciated everything they did for us.

We arrived in super-cute VW his 'n' hers campervans and said "I do" in a beautiful, floored petit marquee. Emma from The White Wedding Co was excellent and brought our vision to life. She made the day look exactly how we wanted it, dressing the marquee and dining room perfectly.

Looking back, we're so glad we went ahead and got married. Being so intimate, we had time to chat and be with all our guests on the day. Even during a pandemic, we had the most amazing day and we'd definitely advise anyone in our situation to just go for it!

That said, we'd absolutely love a celebration ceilidh in future with friends and family who couldn't be there.

Married life so far has been very special. We luckily managed a mini-moon to Aviemore and have done some work on our new house together. We feel we've definitely made the most of things during a very challenging and stressful year.
