A winter wonderland wedding
Worried about changing your wedding plans? This stunning, sparkly winter micro-wedding might just convince you to go ahead with tying the knot in lockdown. We hear more from bride, Katie…
“With a wedding day all planned for 19th September at The Barn at Barra Castle we ended up changing the date to February. But as our new date grew closer and the restrictions grew tighter, we realised we’d have to change dates again. And, as we both work for the NHS (I’m an emergency nurse practitioner and my hubby’s an anaesthetist), we knew first-hand that the restrictions wouldn’t change anytime soon.
We kept going back and forth, asking ourselves lots of questions. Should we postpone for a year? Should we wait for a vaccine? Then one fateful night I was reading about micro-weddings on the Grampian Wedding Directory blog – I knew I needed to be one of those brides!
Once we decided to go ahead, it was third time lucky and we put our all into it. We managed to plan the whole event in the space of five weeks and we worked with all our original suppliers, apart from the original venue, unfortunately. I turned to the GWD blog and Instagram page on a daily basis for support, guidance and information!
So, on Wednesday 16th December, we tied the knot at Glen Dye Cabins and Cottages in Aberdeenshire. It was the most amazing yet unique venue, and ours was the first wedding of its kind on the estate.
This year has taught us that health and happiness are what’s important, and we’re so happy we had a micro-wedding. It really was the best day of our lives.”
