A perfect lockdown wedding!

Feeling conflicted about getting married right now? If anyone is going to convince you to take the plunge, it’ll be bride Sam…

A perfect lockdown wedding!

“Andy and I got engaged at Neist Point on the Isle of Skye in 2018 and started planning our wedding straight away. We fell in love with Glen Tanar and booked our dream day for 1 August 2020. Within a few months, we had all our suppliers sorted and we were raring to go.

“But just a few months after sending out the save the date cards, the world was crumbling due to the pandemic. I knew we had to change our wedding date. I cried as I phoned all our suppliers, but luckily, they were all available for a new summer date in 2021.

â€œPostponing the wedding was very disheartening and we both struggled to feel excited about the new date. As time went on and we realised we might not even get our big wedding in 2021, we decided we wanted to go ahead in the year it was originally planned.

“I got in touch with Logie Country House and we were delighted when they said 28 November was free. It was meant to be – just two days after Andy’s 40th so we had lots to celebrate!

“On the night before the wedding we had a lovely meal and played socially distanced games with our guests – the pandemic really made us think outside the box for entertainment. We were all very relaxed at Logie and it felt very safe.

“The nerves didn’t hit me because I was so relieved that our wedding was finally happening!

“I was trying to hold back the tears when I saw Andy at the alter with our two-year-old son, looking adorable in his full kilt. Our humanist, Louise, performed the ceremony with just the right amount of humour and emotion. When we realised we wouldn’t be able to have a band, we hired Myke Black to perform at the ceremony, which everyone loved. We were later piped into dinner where the speeches provided even more fun and laughter… And tears, of course!

“All of the stress and uncertainty was worth it when the day arrived. We lost money and couldn’t have all our friends and family there but we did what felt right for us. Everyone was so understanding and gave us their best wishes. If anyone else feels like they just want to be married, I’d say GO FOR IT!

â€œI keep joking that I should add wedding planner to my CV as I’ve now booked our wedding start to finish three times! We’re both still on cloud nine and so glad we bit the bullet and got married when we did.”
